Capri and the Blue Grotto

We took a ferry over to the Isle of Capri. Once there, we took another boat that takes us up the shoreline to the entrance to the Blue Grotto. It is a huge cavern, 60 m long, quite deep with a sand bottom, the light somehow enters, reflects off the sand bottom and creates a luminescent blue throughout. It was magical, except for the 1 hour plus wait sitting in the direct Mediterranean Sun on a stationary boat that is bobbing in some pretty good waves. Bigger boats take you to the site, then rowboats take 4 people at a time into the Grotto itself, but you have to wait your turn to get a rowboat. Poor Lisa, I was thinking that she was ready to swim back!
Approaching the island from the ferry.
Almost ready to go into the Grotto.

The light is the entrance.
We checked out the beach in Capri.
