Mount Vesuvius

This morning, our bus took us to the only active volcano on mainland Europe. We bused up so far, and then hiked up about a mile to the centre crater.
Originally, this was one volcano, but  after the eruption that buried Pompeii, the top of the mountain was blown off, leaving what appears to be two tops.
The side was covered in very frangrant yellow flowers.
The climb was steep and a hard walk.
It is so hard to see the perspective on the centre of the crater.
It was quite fascinating, and I am glad to report that the mountain didn't erupt today.
