A very soggy day

Well, we have encountered our first very wet Irish day! We left our hotel in Galway this morning and shortly after getting on the bus and rained. It rained really hard while we were visiting Kylemore Abby! This was an isolated castle built in the Connemara region in 1871 as a home. In the 1920s it was taken over by Irish nuns who had been living in Ypres Belgium and their Abbey was devastating by WW1. The location was spectacular, overlooking a lake at the edge of some mountains.

You can see the sheets of rain moving through the air on top of the lake. The white stripes in the hills above are little rivers, some of which have just recently formed with the torrents of water arriving today!

This is the Irish campus of university of Norte dame in the states!

Our valiant effort at a selfie!

Back in the 1800s the owner built his own cathedral complete with 4different kinds of marble. Very extravagant!
